Foundations Committed to Improving Mental Health & Wellbeing

Mental health responses by law enforcement agencies have been a topic of increasing concern and reform in recent years. The traditional approach to mental health crises often involved police officers responding to emergency calls involving individuals in crisis.
However, this approach has faced criticism due to concerns about the use of force, inadequate training in dealing with mental health issues, and tragic incidents resulting in harm or death to individuals experiencing mental health crises… even the death of police officers.
In response to these concerns, several changes and initiatives have emerged… and because of that, fewer people are being sent to jails and hospitals after calls to 9-1-1.
