Yes, Dr. Drew Pinsky is a real, board-certified physician in internal and addiction medicine who continues to actively practice. He earned his M.D. from USC and brings decades of clinical experience, including ongoing work with patients alongside his media career.

Dr. Drew Pinsky got into television through his work in radio, which began while he was still practicing medicine. In the early 1980s, he started answering medical questions on a Sunday night radio show called Ask a Surgeon on Los Angeles station KROQ-FM. His ability to explain complex health issues in an accessible way led to a co-hosting role on Loveline, a nationally syndicated radio show combining medical advice with relationship counseling.
Loveline gained popularity and was eventually adapted into a late-night MTV television show in the 1990s, launching Dr. Drew’s TV career. From there, he went on to host and appear in various TV programs, including Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, where he leveraged his expertise in addiction medicine.

Yes, Dr. Drew maintains a private internal medicine practice in South Pasadena, California, while continuing his media and podcasting work.
